Saint-Cyr: 26
Greater Poitiers: 20
It was in a tense atmosphere, between two teams more effective in defense than in attack, that this match began. Tillet, the Poitiers goalkeeper, quickly disconcerted the Saint-Cyrian attackers with seven saves in twelve minutes. The locals only managed to score two goals, thanks to a penalty and a counter-attack (2-5, 12e). Opposite, the Poitevins had difficulty getting past an iron defense.
Reversal of situation
It was Turon goalkeeper Loche-Ertus who put his team back in the right direction. At the 23e minute, Saint-Cyr took the lead for the first time in the match (9-8), just after his third save. The goalkeeper, on fire, continued with two new stops in quick succession (24e), including a determining factor for confidence since the Poitevin attacker was alone in front of him.
It didn't take much for Saint-Cyr to feel like it was growing wings. Foucault intercepted a pass and added a goal (10-8, 25e). Despite three new saves from goalkeeper Tillet (9 in total in the first period), the two teams returned to the locker room with a gap of 4 points (13-9).

A one-sided second half
Upon resumption, the gap was felt quite quickly, in a match which became even more tense (seven temporary exclusions in the second period, four for Saint-Cyr and three for Poitiers). With eight saves, Loche-Ertus definitely left his mark on this match. The fiery Foucault stopped the Griffons' efforts with several interceptions and Robyns scored with a superb coo.
On the Poitiers side, Tillet was less effective (four saves) and the entire attack, tired, lacked the lucidity to realize the few chances it created. The points gap swelled to reach +9 in the 54the minute (24-15). Siha Mbedy Diagne still managed to score two magnificent goals at the end of the match (25-18, then 25-19 in the 58the minute). Saint-Cyr added a goal in the final seconds to finish the match with a score of 26 to 20 and thus maintain the lead in the standings before the break.
