Relieved but exhausted, the Poitevins drew on their physical reserves to achieve a sixth success in this N2 championship. In this promoted duel, the start of the match was to the advantage of the visitors, well in place and quite skilful in the first transitions. Waiting, the Poitevins played low to try to counter their opponents. But if the Genôts built their offensive start rather well, their domination was sterile as Poitevin goalkeeper Louis approached the goal.
On a complicated pitch, both teams struggled to complete the match. We had to wait until the half hour mark for a first Poitevin opportunity. On a through ball, Bekhechi took advantage of Grégoire's good ball call but came up against a Vendée defender. In the opposite area, the former Poitevin Cuvier served behind Berlin whose shot crashed into Louis' left post (30e). Clearly the best opportunity of this first period which could have just rewarded the good first period of the Genôts. On the Poitevin side, offensive inclinations were very rare. We sometimes confused speed and haste, like this well-placed free kick played quickly by Mbati for Mériguet, whose shot went well wide of Cagnon's goal (39e), provoking the anger of Hervy who saw himself hitting this first well-placed set piece.

The Poitevins seemed physically borrowed. The defensive left side was overwhelmed by the speed of the Traore-Heguiabehere duo, always dangerous but fortunately imprecise in the final movements. A complicated first period for Poitevins lacking offensive inspiration. But football, and particularly National 2, requires efficiency, a quality that is sorely lacking in the Vendée players of Rabie Zeroual (worst attack in the group).
On the first corner of the second half, Kibundu's ball was deflected to the far post, Bekhechi extended his leg to open the scoring (46e). Cruel for Vendéens picked up cold from the start of the second half.
The appearance of the match changed, confidence seemed to return to the Poitevins' feet. Barely coming into play, Houmadi brilliantly got rid of his defender and placed the ball out of reach of Cagnon (2-0, 61e). A decisive break for Luc Davaillon's men. The Poitevin technician made a series of changes to maintain maximum freshness. The Genôts threw their last strength into the battle but like their start to the season, the attacks were quite harmless for an experienced and serene Stade defense.
