The first Arles Christmas run was organized at Place du Forum this Saturday, December 21.
550 Santas set off at 6 p.m. from the Place du Forum in Arles for the first Christmas run Arles. The runners covered the streets of the city for 5km, passing in particular in front of the arenas and the ancient theater. This first edition was organized by the Place du Forum traders' association and by the group of Arles traders' associations.
“I had wanted to do it for two years. It's original, I wanted there to be families, the route was designed to be accessible to people with reduced mobility, we pass through the ancient theater etc…“, explains Mathieu Goncalves, the president of the Place du Forum merchants' association. The latter was delighted with the number of participants. “I'm very happy, it's a good atmosphere! I hope we will do it every year, for at least twenty years. The money raised is used to cover costs for the weekend and other events.”
The snowy village opened at 4 p.m. with multiple activities, a DJ, a special Christmas blind test, etc. Many families participated in the event. The evening then continued with music. The Christmas festivities at Place du Forum began on Friday, December 20 and continue this Sunday, December 22 with a sea urchinade organized from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
