This Saturday, December 21, despite the rainy episodes that punctuated the start of the day, visitors to the Magic of Christmas came in large numbers to take advantage of the activities planned by the City, for this last weekend before the arrival of Santa Claus.
The uncertainties of the weather and the gloomy weather since the beginning of December 2024 do not bode well for the final results of this 2024 edition of the Magic of Christmas in Carcassonne. This Saturday, December 21, on the eve of Christmas Eve and like previous weekends since December 4 and the launch of the 2024 edition of the Magic of Christmas, visitors belatedly flocked to the streets of the Aude prefecture, but also around the chalets of Place Carnot. But it wasn't a big party either, between two downpours. On the ice of the rink, the crowds also remained shy until the beginning of the afternoon when DJ Tayebi ensured the atmosphere despite the drizzle.
Here again, the weather was not good. Ambassador of Santa Claus on Place Carnot, photographer Gilbert Banegas still manages to work, even if this 2024 edition will not go down in history according to him: “It won't be the same Christmas Magic that we experienced in past years, because there we took on water! In our South, it's not like in the North, as soon as it rains people don't don't go out… Afterwards, it's not just me who is experiencing a loss of activities, but also the businesses. It's obvious that there will be a loss of turnover, but that's not the fault of the people. person !”
The Soaked Grinch
And then there was the Grinch accompanied by the inhabitants of Whoville. Unfortunately for movie fans, the green monster was not played by Jim Carrey. With the downpours falling on Place Carnot, the Grinch was soaked just like the passers-by looking for a glass of mulled wine at the Christmas market. Fortunately, the parade, punctuated by Christmas songs, was followed by a few curious people. With the bad weather, the little stroll almost took place in the Joë Bousquet room at the town hall. A small lull allowed them to go out without much success.
