Niamone (Bignona), Dec 21 (APS) – The deputy sub-prefect of the district of Tenghori, Amadou Diallo chaired, Friday, in Niamone, in the department of Bignona, a forum focused on women's economics in Casamance, an initiative of the regional solidarity committee of women for peace in Casamance (USOFORAL), noted the APS.
This activity focused on the theme “The potential of women's entrepreneurship: issues and challenges” aims to encourage the populations of Casamance to consume locally, explained the project manager at the regional women's solidarity committee for the peace in Casamance (Usoforal), Marianne Patricia Manga Lopy.
Mayors, administrative authorities and representatives of technical services working in the field of women's entrepreneurship took part in the meeting.
Ms. Lopy added that this forum also aims to allow women from the federations of Boutoupa-Camaracounda, Oulampane, Niamone and Djibidione to exchange with each other and exhibit their local products that they had to transform. in their respective localities.
“We want these women to overcome the challenges they have in relation to the processing of fruits and vegetables that they are doing in their locality,” said Marianne Patricia manga Lopy.
The regional women's solidarity committee for peace in Casamance (USOFORAL) thus invited public and territorial authorities to support rural women in their fight for access to land, in order to “enable them to produce on a large scale.
“We invite the State of Senegal to support these women so that they can better take charge of their activities and be on the path to their empowerment,” insisted Ms. Lopy.
The deputy sub-prefect of the district of Tenghori, Amadou Diallo welcomed the holding of the forum which constitutes “an opportunity to show the potential of Casamance in terms of products”.
