In October 2013, theChurch of Saint-Pierre de Coatréven (Côtes-d’Armor) was hit by a mini tornado causing enormous damage to the building.
Four years later, in 2017, restoration work began, a huge project that lasted four years.
At that time, the municipality, association and Heritage Foundation joined forces for the first time to collect donations and help finance the work, as insurance did not cover all costs.
A second project
A second donation campaign is launched today. Barbara Wattebled, territorial delegate of the Heritage Foundation, mayor Yves Le Rolland, and Raymond Artur, president of the association of Friends of the Saint-Pierre church, signed a tripartite agreement.
Objective, to once again collect donations for a second project which concerns the repair of the stand, the niche, the sacristy and the bell tower, which requires better sealing with a lead screed.
Repointing of the facade is necessary, the joints must be staked and redone with lime to allow the building to breathe better. Finally, the wall of the parish enclosure, which collapsed in the fall of 2023, must be reassembled.
€405,000 of work
The cost of all this work amounts to more than €405,000. L'call for donations is launched.
The first phase raised a total of €78,000, matched by the Heritage Foundation to the tune of €15,000. Communities and individuals participated for the sum of €5,000 and the regional council paid a subsidy of €15,000.
Since its opening, 10 concerts have been organized there.
Donations, subject to a tax reduction, can be paid via the Heritage Foundation website, or by check.
