Pro D2 – “This kind of defensive sequence testifies to the state of mind of a group”, greets Jean Thomas (Colomiers)

Jean Thomas, shadow actor of the Columérin success against , savors this moment. For the manner, on the one hand, and because he knows that another result before the break would have plunged the club into doubt.

Do you know how many tackles you made?

I don't have my stats at all but I know I quit because I feel my shoulders tingling (he smiles).

Precisely, there is this passage at the hour mark, six or seven minutes long, where you are on your line but do not concede a try. Personally, you have been in great demand. But isn't this a crucial moment of the match?

This is perhaps the turning point of the match, because it feels good to come out of this kind of very long defensive sequence without taking a point. If I'm not mistaken, there were 14 of us at that time. Generally, this kind of sequence reflects the state of mind of the group. There, we saw that everyone was there, ready to fight for each other. It really feels good for your head when you get out of there.

Conversely, in the next sequence, you are one more and cannot kill the match…

It's true, it's a shame because we have the offensive bonus point. We built our match well, we are at their place. This 100 meter try (Kibirige, 72nd) hurts our heads a little and puts them back in a position to tickle us to try to get victory at the end of the match. It's a shame because over the whole match, with this defensive sequence which could have put us in difficulty, ultimately, we are in it and we lose the offensive bonus at the end. I don't know if it will be anecdotal or if it will count at the end of the season. We'll try to make sure it doesn't count.

Do you regret this offensive bonus point, finally? What about this last penalty?

There is a little regret at having lost him, because we were in control. But on the last action, I believe that it is sometimes better to settle for four points than to risk everything to get five. Let's be content with what we have, and this victory which does a lot of good. There, we were all very happy to win the match.

Indeed, this success allows you to look upwards…

It could be a pivotal match. With a defeat tonight, we were looking down. We give ourselves the right to hope and it's always nicer to look upwards.
