A court closes, and the entire judicial system coughs.
Thursday December 19, 2024, the Beauvais judicial court (Oise) was evacuated. This exceptional measure was taken “as a preventive measure, due to a risk of asbestos contamination”, jointly inform Frédéric Trinh, public prosecutor of Beauvais and Aurélie Canoves Fuster, the interim president of this court. .
The place of justice will therefore remain closed until further notice.
“An error made by a service provider”
An “error” made by a service provider while carrying out work would be the cause of this situation. In a rather rare press release, the two heads of jurisdiction indicate that a “diagnosis of air contamination in the building is in progress”.
The results of these analyzes are expected during next week. Until then, the continuity of the public service of justice will be ensured thanks to the transfer of urgent hearings and penal services within relocated premises.
Teleworking staff
Some hearings still had to be canceled urgently. “They will be subject to new summons at a later date,” reassure Frédéric Trinh and Aurélie Canoves Fuster.
Civil servants usually working within these walls were invited to encourage teleworking.
