Press release from the Tarbes-Lourdes-Pyrénées urban community: “A few days before the end-of-year festivities, the Henri Duparc Conservatory invites you to discover a colorful, perfect musical show
to amaze young and old on Friday December 20 at 7 p.m.
Meet a clumsy duck, two proud cats, a story-telling mouse, an agile bird and a captivating wolf through two major works from the musical repertoire “Pierre and the Wolf” by Sergei Prokofiev
Created in just one week in 1936, this iconic musical tale was specially created for the Moscow Children's Theater. It comes to life thanks to a wind quintet and the voice of Caroline Bazire, reciter. Each character is embodied by an instrument: flute for the bird, oboe for the duck, clarinet for the cat, bassoon for the grandfather, horns for the wolf, and of course, the entire quintet for the courageous Pierre. An immersive experience not to be missed!
In preamble: « Opus Number Zoo » by Luciano Berio
The musicians will open the show with this playful and daring work where they themselves tell stories while playing. Through four pieces with varied tones – The Country Ball, The Horse, The Gray Mouse and The Cats – let yourself be carried away between humor, emotion, cynicism and meditation.
