The scene is set: very full tables, large rooms, computers everywhere and cameras to broadcast everything live on the Twitch platform.
Thursday morning, 36 students from the IUT of Toulon played online and livestreamed on the Twitch platform. Twelve teams of three competed all day in their training premises. “Racing games, shooting games, geolocation games, each team chooses its part. It's both very studious and festive”, explains Mäelys Torché, teacher at the IUT and initiator of the project.
Third successful edition
The students were supervised throughout the day. “This is the third time we have organized this competition and it is going better and better! Everything is broadcast live, which brings together a lot of people”she adds.
For the best competitors, subscriptions to “gaming centers” are provided as well as vouchers in specialized stores in the metropolis.. “They are also evaluated during this day on their way of participating together. Do not believe, they are observed and noted. This day is also a learning.”
Some were even dressed up to create buzz online. The 36 students therefore spent a day like no other within the confines of their IUT. An experience which is part of the course and which will remain a great memory.
