Last Tuesday, during the general assembly of the ASC (training center), the name of Siaka Bakayoko was mentioned by President Stéphane Dambreville. This young defender born in 2005 is one of the four young people to whom the ASC offered their first professional contract last summer along with Chabane, Ikia Dimi and Mactar Tine.
At the start of the season, Siaka Bakayoko certainly appeared in the pro group, most often on the match sheet, but it was really against Lorient, relegated from L1, that he was started for the first time in the axis. Not only did he have an excellent debut, but also he was rewarded by heading his first goal following a corner. The goal which would allow the ASC to achieve a great feat, especially when we see how the Merlus are today.
Siaka was in the press room this Thursday morning before the trip to the Vosges, and of course, he was asked what he thought of Mamadou Fofana’s departurewho was somewhat of his mentor: “I was personally very affected, because Mamadou was a senior player. He helped me and advised me a lot« . As a result, Bakayoko finds himself surrounded by players almost as young as him, but he feels ready “to show what he is capable of”. This young player in the making is even ambitious for himself but also for the team, on the condition of course that everyone contributes to the building: « In any case, we have a quality workforceadded Siaka. As for me, on a personal level, I feel very good. I came from training and I have often been told that you should never give up and that a match lasts 90 minutes« . The example is indeed the victory snatched at the end of the match by his friends from Gambardella, Sunday in Quevilly.
