the essential
For its last match of the year, AF Biars Bretenoux travels this evening to Montauban in a late match in the Regional 1 championship. A final effort to make before the break.
Last meeting of the year 2024 for AF Biars Bretenoux which travels, this Saturday evening, to the Montauban field for its final meeting before the winter break (match at 6 p.m.).
Initially scheduled for mid-November, this match counting for the 7th day of the Regional 1 championship, pool B, had been postponed, the Biarnais team playing its match in the 7th round of the Coupe de France that weekend.
It is another difficult task that awaits the Biarnais this weekend on the field of a Montalbanese team which has been intractable so far at home where it has recorded three victories in as many matches (4 to 1 against Rodez 2, 2 to 1 against Rodéo FC and 3 to 1 against Fonsorbes).
“Especially since Montauban (currently ranked 8th with 14 points in nine matches) is behind the schedule they had set for themselves and they will do everything to get closer to the leading teams, make up for the points lost on previous weekend in Toulouse Métropole (1-0 defeat) and finish on a good note before the break,” indicates Patrick Gauthier, the coach of a Biarnais team still faced with the same paradox.
“Stop the negative spiral”
“In terms of the game, we are good, in the last matches it is satisfactory in terms of content, there are lots of good things, but this does not materialize in terms of accounting. In the last five matches, we have lost four times 1-0. We have to be able to stop this negative spiral.”
Ranked penultimate in the standings of Pool B with 6 points in 9 matches, AF Biars Bretenoux needs to capitalize in order to move away from the bottom of the standings. “If I divide the group into three thirds, our objective is to integrate the second third of the middle” indicates the coach of a Lot team which will approach this last meeting of 2024 with the desire “to scratch all the points which will be possible to scratch.”
For this last match of the year, the Biarnais coach will rely on a modified group with the absences of Dieme, Prieux, Chataigner and Garrigou but which, facing a team which has been full this season at home, will not have nothing to lose. “We know that we are playing against a strong team, which has quality players, but we will persevere in what we are doing in the hope that the group will finally be rewarded for its efforts. The group works well, the content is good, we just need that bit of success. It’s up to us to provoke it! »
