Le Havre: work on the castle gate will be able to begin

The Council of State has closed the procedures linked to the construction of the castle, thus opening the first phase of the work.

Nearly 20 years after the construction of Port 2000 in Le Havre, its river access – commonly called the castle gate – should see the light of day. After a long procedure and a decision from the Council of State closing it definitively on December 13, Haropa was able to notify the contract for construction work on an 1,800 meter dike and a channel allowing direct access for boats from the Seine to the terminals. container ships of Port 2000.

It is the Terelian/SDI group, winner of the contract, which will start with a pyrotechnic detection campaign. The port of Le Havre will also launch a sequence of works corresponding to the mobilization of site installations (life base) and pyrotechnic detection on the construction site of future works. The first stage of the campaign consists of an electromagnetic reconnaissance of the site. According to suspicions, a visualization by divers is carried out. If the presence of an explosive device is confirmed, the demining services will be contacted. The duration of this first phase of work, also including the removal of bulky items, is estimated at six months.

The project is financed by the Region to the tune of 82.75 million euros, the State to the tune of 23.6 million euros and European funds to the tune of 11 million euros. The total duration of the work is estimated at two years.
