On Wednesday December 18, 2024, the inauguration evening of the new Youth Info Center (CIJ) in the city of Le Mans took place. Between exchanges, fun activities and artistic performances, this evening took place in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Wednesday December 18, around 6 p.m., rue de l’Étoile, it was difficult to miss the crowd in the renovated premises of the CIJ. Indeed, many people from all walks of life came to celebrate the opening of the brand new structure. Local elected officials, heads of the Children, Youth and Sports department, partners, youth and young Mancelles and Manceaux leaders were present at this event. Members of youth neighborhood councils, whose commitment for a one-year term took place a few hours earlier in town hall, also attended this official presentation.
Young people are invited to make the place their own
Stéphane Le FollMayor of Le Mans, and Michael Guiharddeputy delegate for Youth, Student Life, Arts and Cultural Education launched the festivities. They successively took the floor to salute the efforts invested in the redevelopment of this welcoming space which the public will have to make their own. They particularly highlighted the importance of “pool all the branches dedicated to youth in Le Mans”.
A colorful fresco symbolizing youth
Sarah Lembo said a few words about the fresco she created in the new CIJ. His work, colorful and rich in details, represents youth in its vivacity, but also in its cultural and ethnic diversity. Each time you pass this wall, the visitor discovers new elements which mean that you never tire of observing it. “I work at home, in my workshop”confided the designer. Sarah Lembo composed this fresco with her favorite technique influenced by street art.
A festive atmosphere, a successful evening
The speeches then gave way to various activities, such as puzzle games, a quiz on the missions and functioning of the CIJ and a camera rotating 360 degrees. Artistic performances also punctuated the event. Calypsoa young singer, performed three songs, including two original compositions. The guests were notably able to enjoy the Bollywood dance performance of Francescadancer from the Couveuse des Jeunes talents. This evening was a success in every way.
