Thursday December 19, 2024, opening of the last community council of La Roche-sur-Yon Agglomerationthe president Luc Bouard wanted to bring a support for the inhabitants of Mayotte following the tragedy which has just struck the island.

A minute of silence

“Our thoughts are with Mayotte which was violently hit by storm Chido. This disaster caused numerous victims and plunged the island into a climate of unprecedented crisis,” recalled the president before inviting all elected council members to respect a minute of silence “for those who have disappeared and those who have been fighting since now six days.”

For the Red Cross

Faced with the extent of the damage, Luc Bouard suggested that elected officials vote for exceptional aid.

Today, survivors are experiencing dramatic living conditions with shortages of drinking water and food, and difficulties accessing care. The most vulnerable, elderly people, children and the sick are particularly affected.
