“The objective of this event is to introduce everyone to Turkish culture and to show that Turkey is not just about kebabs! » exclaims Mahmut Gundesli, president of the OBA association, organizer of the Kültür’Expo show. A meeting which will be held this weekend, from December 21 to 23, at the Vandoeuvre-lès-Nancy exhibition center.
And it’s a first for Nancy. The show stopped a few months ago in Reims and Metz and brought together around 20,000 visitors in each city.
Crafts, gastronomy, shows, etc.
“We are eagerly awaited in Nancy. Istanbul will come at the foot of the Nancy people. For three days, visitors will be able to discover Turkish craftsmanship thanks to the presence of around ten artisans who came specially from the country. There will be glass blowers, pottery, oil painting,” continues the organizer. But that’s not all! Gastronomy will also be in the spotlight thanks to the presence of chefs who will cook traditional dishes. Dance shows and concerts are also on the program, as is the presentation of tourist treasures. In total there will be 130 exhibitors. “Among this figure, we will also find local companies and associations,” adds Turan Ozgurcan, vice-president of the OBA association.
The profits from Kültür’expo will be used for the construction of damaged schools in Turkey and Syria after the earthquakes of 2023. “Initially, by launching the association in 2020, we were keen to create an event to present our culture and make people travel while staying at home. Three years later, following the terrible earthquakes which hit both countries, hundreds of schools collapsed. I was deeply affected a few days after the tragedy, at the beginning of February, when I went to Turkey with a medical team to treat 1,200 people in around ten days,” confides Mahmut Gundesli, who is also an emergency doctor at the CHRU of Nancy.
