Francis MvembaCongolese political figure and businessman, was arrested in Senegal in a case of accommodation fraud. According to local authorities, Mvemba stayed from November 26 to December 17 in a luxury hotel, the « Villa Petit Paradis »located on Petite-Côte, without paying all of its costs. The total cost of his stay, including a suite with a private pool and another equipped with a bathtub, amounts to 3,623,000 CFA francs.

Despite a deposit of 900,000 CFA francsMvemba failed to pay the remaining balance of 2,723,000 CFA francs, leading the owner to file a complaint. As attempts to follow up with the complainant went unanswered, the matter was brought before the local brigade of Ngaparou.

Questioned by the police, Mvemba admitted the facts and asked for additional time to pay his debt. However, this request did not prevent the initiation of legal proceedings. Presented to the public prosecutor’s office Mbourhe was placed under arrest warrant, awaiting legal action.

This affair raises questions about the financial situation of a man who presented himself in 2018 as a serious candidate to lead the DRC. It remains to be seen whether this affair will have repercussions on its reputation or its international activities.
