A man died of a gunshot to the head shortly before 10 p.m. on Thursday December 19 in Vaulx-en-Velin, according to a police source.
The victim, aged 26, was at the foot of a block of buildings at Allée des Cerisiers, near his home. This site would also be known as a deal point, and the man was known “unfavorably towards the police”, report the authorities without specifying the reasons. Saccording to our colleagues from Le Progrès, it was linked to drug trafficking. Originally from the neighborhood, he was involved in running the deal point.
The Organized Crime Division (DCO) was put in charge of the investigation. No information has been communicated at this stage on the preferred tracks. In recent weeks, several shootings have been noted in the metropolis of Lyon, against a backdrop of alleged conflicts between drug traffickers. In the Tonkin district of Villeurbanne, a man was killed on October 31, and two men were shot and injured on December 9 and 11. Investigations are underway, but no arrests linked to these crimes have yet been reported at this stage.
