The town hall of Montpellier (Hérault) cancels its traditional greeting ceremony scheduled for January 8 at the Corum. Michaël Delafosse justifies this decision “due to the strong budgetary constraints that the State imposes on the Metropolis”.

In a press release sent this Thursday, December 19, 2024, the first magistrate scratches the State which has “let the public deficit slip by significant proportions” and reminds that “local authorities are heavily penalized to the tune of 25 million euros for the Metropolis and 7 million for the city of Montpellier, threatening the functioning of public services.”

The Montpellier city councilor announces “a reduction in investment of 30%” et “a concentration on the bulk of operating expenses”.
