SENEGAL-AFRICA-SPORTS / African Skating Confederation: Senegalese Awa Nar Fall commits to meeting the challenges – Senegalese press agency

Dakar, Dec 19 (APS) – The president of the Senegalese Roller Skating Federation Awa Nar Fall, elected last November in Turkey at the head of the African Skating Confederation, says she is “ready” to take on the challenges at the head of the African federal body.

Awa Nar Fall was elected to this position on the sidelines of the Skating Football World Cup. She led the Senegal national team which was eliminated in the quarter-finals of this competition.

At the head of the Senegalese Roller Skating Federation since 2017, Awa Ndar Fall, the first woman president of a sports federation in Senegal, has just added a new string to her bow by leading the African federal body. She says she is counting on the support of the Senegalese state authorities to meet the challenges of her new mission on the African level.

“Since 2014, I have been in contact with other African leaders through competitions that we organized in Senegal in 2015, 2019 and 2024. The work continues. I am very happy to be alongside Africans to develop this discipline and I would like to be, one day, the president of the International Skating Football Federation,” she said in an interview with the APS.

»Women are moving forward. They are progressing, because only work pays,” she said, inviting the country’s authorities to support this sporting discipline.

It was in 2002 that a provisional national roller and surf committee was set up by the Senegalese Ministry of Sports.

in 2027, there was the breakup with surfing on the one hand and the creation of the roller skating federation. Awa Nar Fall has been at the head of this federation since this year. She is in her second term.

Under his leadership, Senegal won several gold medals at the world level, the last of which was obtained by Dame Fall in Free Jump, for the fourth time, at the 2024 World Roller Skating Championships in Italy (September 6-22).

“We have broken records globally. Senegal has been world champion since 2017 with the ambition to develop skatecross (a roller skating obstacle course) and other disciplines including skateboarding which has become an Olympic discipline,” she explained.

The federation is also preparing for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games, according to its president.

Also vice-president of the African Rollerskate Confederation, Awa Nar Fall is rewarded for her efforts which brought her to the head of the African Roller Football Confederation.
