For many readers who were perhaps expecting a great revival with the arrival of Joe Kelly on Amazing Spider-Manhis debut on the arc 8 Deaths of Spider-Man may have been somewhat disconcerting. If we find some well-felt dialogues, it is clear that the story goes in quite eccentric directions (even for superhero comics, yes), with this “Doom-Spider“who wears armor made to face the Scions of Cytorakand who sees himself die and resurrect with each confrontation. The story could even take on completely different proportions with the transformation into Spider-Naut recently teased, but maybe after, Joe Kelly will it really be freer? And capable of moving towards more traditional horizons? In any case, this is the promise made by Marvel for the month of April 2025.
Another relaunch, yes
It is at Polygon what Marvel left the scoop on the information: the flagship series Amazing Spider-Man will therefore be relaunched (we say relaunched in the jargon) to number #1 in April, for a new run on which Joe Kelly (Deadpool, I Kill Giants) will remain on the screenplay, assisted by the excellent Pepe Larraz (Blood Hunt, House of X) to the drawing, and a John Romita Jr. still valiant and on which Marvel still relies a lot. We hear you – and we understand you -: yes, already a relaunchwhile the last for Zeb Wells only dated from 2022, and the previous one for Nick Spencer having taken place in 2018. The time windows are shortening for each run and each relaunch. And Marvel and their teams are still convinced that #1 is a good entry point – and a good way to have significant sales, the past decade has proven that the method is vain and ultimately does not help new readers to start, with the same series having several #1 issues in such a short time.

We bet that with Amazing Spider-Man #1, Joe Kelly, Pepe Larraz et John Romita Jr. will succeed in giving a run which makes you want to commit in the long term, and which Nick Lowe will let the author do what he wants without the editorial/commercial coming to ruin everything with events and special issues (no more .BEY and .DEATS, please). The series will start on April 9, 2025 in the comic shops.
