SHEDIAC, NB – It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Louis Morais, husband of the late Gilberte (Babin) Morais, who left us on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at the Dr. George-L.-Dumont hospital center, at the age of 87. Born July 18, 1937, he was the son of the late Alyre Morais and the late Clémentine Duguay.
Louis was a person who greatly enjoyed talking, socializing and dancing. He was passionate about all sports, especially hockey, which he had previously played. His beloved wife, Gilberte, was his loving pillar – she took good care of her Louis. His profession was teaching, from which he completed his master’s degree. He was founding president of the Acadians in town in Montreal, involved in the optimistic club, television host and journalist. He loved taking his family on trips, camping and visiting relatives.
Louis is survived by his children, Liette Morais (Daniel) of Shédiac and Michel Morais (Julie) of Montreal; his sister, Thérèse Thomas (Calixte) of Petit-Tracadie; his brothers, Jean-Guy Morais (Alexina) of Tracadie, André Morais (Alexina) of Tracadie, Alyre Morais (Cordula) of Six Road and Paul Morais (Hélène) of Allardville; his grandchildren, Mélissa (Pierre), Yan (Diana) and Alexia (Giuseppe); his beloved great-grandson, Mathis; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Maria, Cécile, Rosella, Fernande, Martin, Léon, François, including their spouses; as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins, friends.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Louis was predeceased by his four sisters, Françoise, Adrienne, Denise and Raymonde; his granddaughter, Roxanne; and his sister-in-law, Bernadette.
The family will receive relatives and friends starting at 8:30 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Thompson Memorial Hall, at 148 chemin St. Ignace, Saint-Louis-de-Kent. The funeral will be celebrated at the Saint-Louis-des-Français Catholic Church, Saint-Louis-de-Kent, on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.
Donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice in Louis’ memory, in lieu of flowers.
