Switzerland wants to commit to preserving the capacity for action and inclusiveness of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) as a platform for dialogue between all participating states, the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs informed Thursday. foreign affairs (FDFA).

Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis sent a letter to the current Chairman of the OSCE, Maltese Foreign Minister Ian Borg, to officially inform him of Switzerland’s candidacy.

The OSCE participating States in Vienna will decide on the Swiss candidacy before the end of the year. This would be the third Swiss presidency, after those of 1996 and 2014.
