Currently, the fast food chain Popeyes has 18 restaurants, one of which is located in the Aude department, in Carcassonne.
She has nearly 4,100 restaurants in the United States and arrived in France in February 2023, after opening its doors opposite the Gare du Nord, in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
According to the Parisian, Popeyes fast food chain aims to open 300 establishments throughout France, in order to compete with the big names in the sector, such as McDonald’s, Burger King and even KFC.
Currently, 18 restaurants are open in France, four of which are in Paris and one in the department of Aude, in Carcassonne. “We tested several formats in different types of cities: Brest, Mulhouse, Agen, Carcassonne or Lille”, explains Olivier Rego, the new general manager for France, to our colleagues.
300 restaurants in 2032
In detail, Le Parisien underlines that in 2023, the brand opened 11 restaurants and three dark kitchens, these establishments which do not welcome customers, but which operate solely on delivery.
An evolution which should therefore continue until 2032 since Popeyes wishes to achieve the 300 establishments by this date and while McDonald’s currently has 1,500 restaurants in France, 500 for Burger King, 350 for KFC and 140 for Quick.
“For the moment we have chosen to develop exclusively on our own, time to develop the concept, secure supplies, develop the new decor and formalize kitchen procedures. From June 2025 we will launch our first franchises with the desire to maintain 50% of its own openings”, adds the general manager France.
