The Qaba Toddler Kitchen Helper 2 Step Stool from Aosom Canada Inc. poses a “risk” of head entrapment due to the space between the bars at the back of the product, Health Canada said in an update. update published Tuesday on its recalls website.

Aosom, an e-commerce company, said 6,656 of the affected Chinese products were sold in Canada between July 2021 and October 2024. The company is based in Markham, Ontario, and sells its products through major retailers , including Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Loblaws and Wayfair.

“Stop using the recalled products immediately and contact Aosom Canada for instructions on how to correct the product so that it can continue to be used,” Health Canada wrote.

As of December 3, Aosom Canada received a report of a child whose head got stuck in the bars of the product in Canada.

Health Canada first issued a recall of the product on December 6, then expanded it on Tuesday.

Five models affected

The recall involves different colors of the product with the following model numbers listed on the outer packaging:

  • cream white (model number: 312-050V00CW)
  • gris (312-050GY)
  • bleu clair (312-050V00LB)
  • rose (312-050V00PK)
  • blanc (312-050WT)
