the essential
Beaten in the first leg (60-45) and this Wednesday evening, at the Quai de l’Adour in the return match (50 to 71), the Tarbaises were eliminated by the Germans from Keltern in the round of 16 of the EuroCup.

With 16 points to recover and a key piece out with the absence of captain Camille Droguet who was ill, the TGB never found the right fuel and above all displayed less intensity than, Saturday evening, against Basket Landes.

In fact, after 1 minute of lost balls, the 3 points from Fora then from Sivka relieved the Tarbaises.

The TGB chases the score

But by playing intelligently, the Germans took the lead (6-11, 6th). Fortunately, Musa dictated his law to both defensive and offensive rebounds and the entry of Miyem, Monasse, Célerier after the first timeout of the coach revived the locals (12-15, 8th). Monasse added 2 points but a mistake gave 2 points to Keltern who then had an 18 point lead after 5 quarters.

With an address at half mast (6/20) also on the free throw line, the TGB complicated its task especially as the Teutonic defense captured local possession and the technique against the furious Tarbais coach after the arbitration, perhaps rightly, offered the opponent a 9-point lead (15-24, 14th).

At least François Gomez woke everyone up, especially his players. If Musa fought under the circle to keep the gap below 10 points, it was Sivka by scoring far from the circle then penetrating which brought his team to 4 points (22-26, 17th).

Ahead but not for long

At fault the Germans allowed Fora to add 3 points (25-26) then Zodia, pushed around, to make repairs while putting hers in front (27-26, 18th).

Above the rest in rebounds (10), Musa fed Tarbes but without success and even paid for an excess of commitment and despite 2 new points in his favor to take the 2nd quarter, the TGB was overtaken on a basket at 3 German points at the buzzer (29-31), the two teams being equal in this area (3/13).
Badly off to a good start especially as Djordjevic added, things got better in Tarbes when Fora at 3 points then Zodia added (36-35, 24th).

Too many lost balloons to hope

But too soft against a solid, coherent and skillful team at 3 points on a new success from the Canadian Gilles (36-40), the Violettes lost the thread and even offered Rosic his 11th point on yet another lost ball.

A problem which persisted since caught in the duels, the protégés of François Gomez left the 3rd quarter – falling behind by 8 points which practically spelled the end of their hopes of qualification.

Because with 23 points to go then 25 after a mistake from Fora, the players from across the Rhine did not lose confidence and even walked into the Tarbes racket to increase their lead to 10 points.

Despite 3 welcome points from Strunc then from the young Célerier coming off the bench, the TGB was easily contained by a Keltern team which increased its lead to 20 points (47-67, 37th) under the leadership of its adults.

With 25 lost balls, the TGB could not hope to thwart the very Germanic rigor until the end and Ewodo’s last basket, his first in garbage time, left the Tarbaises at 21 points. Total to be added to the 15th of the first leg. With 36 debit points over the two matches, the addition is steep for a TGB which, at least, will not be able to regret its elimination from the EuroCup.
