The event was expected for approximately 5 years : after having invested globally 9,8 millions d’euros HTthe boss of the Cineplanet in Salon-de-Provence has just inaugurated, on December 18, the commissioning of its new car park ! A large parking area with surveillance cameras located on the roof of the cinema which has two distinct levels, one in the open air, the other just below…
“Notre parking de 125 places opens its doors today! And we are delighted that our customers can now benefit from easy access to parking, while enjoying a -10% discount on their cinema ticketswithin the limit of five people per vehicle…”commented Philippe Borys-Combretthe owner of the establishments Cineplanet of Salon-de-ProvenceAntibes and Alès, as well as the former Salonaise cinema Arcades, as well as president of the Cannes Film Company and Cinema.
A soundproof car park with 125 spaces… on the roof of the Cineplanet!
“I thank the mayor, Nicolas Isnard, for supporting us in this project to build a surface car park, on the roof of the cinema, rather than in the basement. Which would have been even more complex, given thatthere is water underneath“, reason why this Cineplanet rests, at depth, on micro-piles. “We had to optimize our project, with regard to the PLU, and take into account the dimensions standardized by the National Cinema Center (CNC) of our cinemas”before being able to insert the pedestrian and car access routes to this car park, inside the Cineplanet building itself. !
“Technically, this project was difficult to carry out, internally, by our teams!” On the one hand, it was necessary to take into account the opinion of thearchitect of the Buildings of Franceparticularly with regard to the elevation of this roof parking lot, “because it was absolutely necessary not to degrade the panorama of the historic center of Salon-de-Provence, by remaining below the Empéri Castle“.
And on the other hand, “the acoustic aspect of this site remained the crucial point of the project! No vehicle noise should, in fact, be heard by spectators in our theaters!” Most of the concrete structures of this new car park therefore rest on soft shock absorbers similar to silent blocks. “And we had to carry out numerous tests to verify that the sound quality of our cinema sessions was not affected.”
Then, after having mentioned the popular success of a “new gaming area which has 17 gamesboth video and traditional, on the ground floor”the boss of Cineplanet was delighted with the “270 000 spectators present, every year, to discover, here, the box office films: special mention to the acclaimed French productions, in 2024! Let’s not forget that cinema is a French inventionbefore becoming American…”
The former “Arcades” cinema soon to be transformed into a 3-star hotel?
Then, the mayor of Salon-de-Provence took the floor to underline the dynamism of his commune, specifying that “this latest generation multiplex contributes to developing the attractiveness and accessibility of our city center.” Ce Cineplanet parking is accessible, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., to all motorists in the town.
And, although paid, “he’s staying the cheapest in Salonwith a rate of 1€55 per hour, compared to 1€60 to 2€40, everywhere else… With this new car park, in the heart of the city, Salon now has 4 000 parking spacesfree or paid! Ultimately, this ease of access helps to attract other commercial activities here, as well as to sustain our 1 000 businesses. It is another stone in the great economic edifice of this city…”
Finally, Philippe Borys-Combret revealed that he was currently thinking about transform the old Arcades cinemaat the end of the Allées de Craponne, near Place Gambetta, in a hotel. “This old cinema built by my family could, soon, become a 3-star hotel, with an aviation themewith integrated parking. As for the film clubnext door, this would become a franchise business, while the upper floors of the building would accommodate housing.”
A reflection in progress which is already awakening all the attention and interest of the municipalityaccording to Nicolas Isnard…
