The two parties agreed on the organization of the session of political and strategic dialogue over the next year, indicated Mr. Bourita during a press briefing, following his talks with the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Chile, Alberto van Klaveren Stork.
This new session will focus on bilateral relations as well as the positions of the two countries on issues of common interest, noted Mr. Bourita, recalling in this sense the High Royal Guidelines aimed at diversifying Morocco’s partnerships and developing its cooperative relations with “serious and credible” countries, like Chile.
This political and strategic dialogue will be an opportunity to address issues relating to the Arab world and the African continent, where Morocco can establish itself as a solid partner for Chile, he noted, assuring that the two countries will work also to the reactivation of the Joint Bilateral Trade and Investment Committee.
According to Mr. Bourita, the reactivation of this Committee will make it possible to examine ways of strengthening trade between the two countries, “which remain below their ambitions”, estimating that this mechanism can play a decisive role in the identification of difficulties to overcome.
In addition, the minister highlighted the significant investment potential available to Morocco and Chile, stressing that the Kingdom can be a gateway to Africa for Chile, which could also be a gateway to Africa. access for Morocco in South America.
The two parties, he continued, are committed to promoting communication between ministerial departments in key areas such as agriculture, tourism, energy and maritime transport, through exchange visits and the organization of videoconferences with a view to exploring cooperation opportunities.
Mr. Bourita indicated that the two countries decided to coordinate their efforts in the field of multilateral cooperation, noting that Chile has always advocated solid multilateral diplomacy, at the UN and within regional organizations, the Human Rights Council of man and UN agencies.
Rabat and Santiago, he continued, share similar visions and can work together as partners convinced that UN action, multilateralism and cooperation constitute the basis for resolving regional and international problems and meet environmental and migration challenges and those of the fight against terrorism and organized crime.
On the other hand, Mr. Bourita indicated that the two parties signed a joint declaration covering a set of questions and common positions, affirming that Morocco welcomes the constructive and positive positions of Chile on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.
He added that Morocco-Chile relations are based on solid foundations, mutual respect and fruitful cooperation, noting that Chile, endowed with solid diplomacy, influence and an audible voice in the context of transformations important that this region knows, is considered a key country for the Kingdom in Latin America.
The minister insisted on Morocco’s interest in consultation with Chile on current issues and events in Latin America, given the particular attention that HM King Mohammed VI pays to the Kingdom’s relations with the countries of this continent, based on historical, linguistic and economic links.
