Like every year, Secours Populaire de Lorient organizes the distribution of toys and festive packages for Christmas. It took place on Tuesday December 17, 2024, at the Bois du Château neighborhood center, for the benefit of the families receiving assistance. A good atmosphere and the smell of hot chocolate reigned in the room where Green Santa’s gifts were stored.
“A happy moment for everyone”
Green hats on their heads, the volunteers welcomed the beneficiaries warmly, offering them coffee or chocolate with cakes. “It’s Christmas, we’re in a good mood, it’s a joyous time. It must be for everyone,” says Stella, a Secours populaire volunteer for 22 years. Why is she doing this? “It’s difficult to explain, it’s something natural that we have in ourselves to help our neighbors, to think of everyone, to please families and children. Sandrine, also a volunteer, adds mischievously that “it’s to help Red Santa Claus”.
“People who think of us”
“We are well received by human people. It’s a plus for the holidays, there are people who think of us,” assure two beneficiaries.
A tray containing festive terrines is given to families, a festive package and toys for children, as well as books for children to choose from on a large table. “This Thursday, our day will be dedicated to receiving single people who will also receive a package,” concluded Stella.
