MISCELLANEOUS FACTS. Sad sight on Wednesday night. A residence on rue du Cardinal in Drummondville was completely destroyed by the flames.

The alarm went off at 2:39 a.m. “I heard a doorbell as if it was a delivery guy who had dropped something off at my door. Since there was nothing going on, I found it strange. Through the patio door, I saw a glow. As I approached the door which communicates with the garage, I saw the wall which was red,” explained the owner who was unable to limit the progress with a fire extinguisher.

When the first firefighters arrived, the flames had already spread to the entire garage and a large part of the house. The blaze was so intense that the siding of a cabin melted in the heat. Several explosions were heard due to the presence of passenger vehicles in the garage.

The fire quickly progressed towards the roof which soon collapsed inside the structure.

At the time of writing, the blaze was still not under control. Firefighters from Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover and Saint-Germain-de-Grantham assisted the Drummondville firefighters. Their colleagues from Durham-Sud provided coverage for barracks 3 in Saint-Nicéphore.

Hydro-Québec’s services were requested to secure the network while SIUCQ ensured perimeter security while providing assistance to the various stakeholders.

An investigation will be launched following the extinction.
