L’alta strada: this is how the new digital tools dedicated to the medical profession have been named. A nod to the ability to overcome the limitations of space to improve the quality of care. Monday, December 16, in Ajaccio, three telemedicine devices were presented to health administrators and caregivers.
“This allows a patient to access care more quickly, to have better coordinated care, and above all to have long-term monitoring of the patient’s health journey via digital technology.“, details Jean Canarelli, president of GRADES Corse e-Santé.
For Corsican professionals, it is a way of getting closer to colleagues based elsewhere. Concrete example, in the case of patients who would be followed for brain tumors, a CPR, a multidisciplinary consultation meeting is obligatory. Digital technology will make it possible to broaden the spectrum of practitioners involved.
“This meeting is enriched with the presence of national and international referents, notes surgeon Karim Moubarak. For example, for the CPR that I directed at the Bastia hospital, it was Professor Chinot, who was one of the world leaders in the management of brain tumors.“
“We will also allow health professionals to have expertise that is not present on the island, where very little, such as dermatology“, continues Alain Husselstein, director of GRADES Corse e-Santé.

In the regional health project for the period 2023-2028, the regional health agency is also relying on digital technology to try to partially reduce medical deserts. “This saves a little caregiver time, and this is also very important, since we are affected by a scarcity of resources, underlines Marie-Hélène Lecenne, director of the ARS of Corsica. Digital is not a miracle recipe, but it brings added value from this point of view.“
The regional health agency has delegated the digital development mission to a public interest group, GRADES Corse e-Santé. The annual budget is two million euros.
