The Girondins de Bordeaux, in the grip of a critical financial situation, face Stade Rennais in the 32nd final of the Coupe de France this Sunday. This meeting is of capital importance, because a qualification would represent a welcome financial breath of fresh air for the scapular club, which is fighting for its survival.
A first bet made
So far, the Navy and White have already pocketed 43 000 euros for their participation at this stage of the competition, a significant sum paid by the French Football Federation (FFF) to all amateur and Ligue 2 clubs. In the current context of Bordeaux, this amount represents a crucial financial contribution for the Girondin club.
An attractive check in case of qualification
However, the financial challenge takes on a whole new dimension in the event of success against Stade Rennais, a Ligue 1 club playing four divisions above. Indeed, a victory would bring in an additional 40,000 euros to the Girondins, thus bringing their total gain to 83 000 euros since the start of the competition. A nice check which could greatly relieve the finances of the FCGB.
Exponential bonuses in the event of an epic event
Beyond this 32nd final, the bonuses promised by the FFF become truly attractive for a club in difficulty like Bordeaux. A run to the quarter-finals would bring in 218,000 euros, the semi-finals 388,000 euros, and a place in the final 838,000 euros. The winner of the Coupe de France, if he is an amateur or in Ligue 2, would even pocket the colossal sum of 1 238 000 euros.
