Efficiency rewarded. For several months, a small brown “miracle” box has been used in the services of the Simone-Veil hospital center in Cannes. Developed with the Gironde company Med33, the LiquidiMed solution allows secure and less polluting recovery of medicinal waste, which very often has a high toxicity index.
Made from wood residue and biosourced polypropylene, the half-liter container, equipped with a sleeve capable of absorbing a hundred times its weight, gels liquid medicinal waste.
An innovation that appeals to professionals
Tested in June – then adopted in September – in the operating theater, LiquidiMed made it possible to collect more than 20kg of waste and its experimentation (832 containers must be used to cover the annual activity of the theater and save 285kg of CO2 per year) has been extended to birthing rooms, endoscopy, intensive care, etc.
A solution which, visibly, is being emulated, since the project was rewarded in recent days during the Resah (Hospital Buyers Network) 2024 Logistics Purchasing trophies. The jury, made up of professionals and other experts, highlighted LiquidiMed in the “Innovation” category.
Note that the Cannes hospital is also working with Med33 to generalize Dasri boxes [déchets d’activités de soins à risques infectieux] wooden to all services, the replacement of the 20,000 containers used each year leading to a saving estimated at 16.7 tonnes of CO2 and more than 126 million liters of water.
