After a first departure from Aix-en-Provence, the four Aude firefighters went to Paris with the South Zone detachment. A visit to Reunion Island before going to Mayotte to help the victims will take place this Wednesday, December 18.
A journey that takes place in several stages. Monday, December 16, four Aude firefighters joined the South Zone detachment in Aix-en-Provence. The objective of this gathering: to go to Mayotte to help the victims of the island which suffered the cataclysmic passage of Cyclone Chido last Saturday.

Two professionals and two volunteers, attached to the USAR team (rescue support and research unit) made the trip to Bouches-du-Rhône with equipment used for clearing roads but also for sanitation. This Tuesday, December 17, the team made its first journey to Paris. From the capital, they must take the plane at Charles de Gaulle airport to go to Reunion Island on the morning of Wednesday December 18. “No direct flight goes to Mayotte”specified the colonel director of Sdis 11, Christophe Magny.

Once there, the approximately 800 members who make up civil security will begin training. “The logistical factor is important to plan before leaving. The preparation must be thorough before going”insisted the firefighter. Around 4 p.m., everyone will take off again, this time towards their final destination. It will take six to seven hours of flight before arriving there. “For the moment, the details of the missions are not yet known”concluded Christophe Magny.
