This month of November 2024 was rather dry for the season, announces the Regional Biodiversity Agency (ARB) of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, in its monthly bulletin. This notes an accumulation of rainfall below normal, on average of 40% in the region, which contrasts after the two previous very rainy months. Groundwater recharge is slowing down somewhat and the general trend in river flows is downward.
The overall hydrological situation remains satisfactory due to the particularly humid conditions of recent months, notes the agency. The levels of water tables, river flows and filling of reservoir dams are still high or very high for the period.
Decreased precipitation
In detail, precipitation was below normal, with a deficit of 50 to 70%, across the entire Sèvre Niortaise and Marais Poitevin basin. Five piezometers have a moderately high level and one station has a flow rate around average.
For Thouet and Sèvre Nantaise, precipitation is also below normal, showing a deficit of 30 to 50% over most of it. A piezometer shows a very high level, rising. Two stations report moderately high flow.
