The race for the Valais Council of State has not yet been fully launched. The majority of parties have not yet validated their strategy for next March’s election, but they will do so in the coming weeks. And yet, already this Saturday, following the cantonal PLR congress, we should know the composition of the future Valais executive.
The surprise announcements of the departure of the liberal-radical Frédéric Favre and the centrist Roberto Schmidt, which came in quick succession in less than 24 hours in mid-October, nevertheless seemed capable of redistributing the cards and opening the game. The tacit election that was taking shape more and more over the months would ultimately not take place. But despite this paradigm shift, the winners of the race already seem to be known, even before they take their place in the starting blocks.
