The trial of a terrible femicide that could perhaps have been avoided opened Tuesday, December 10 in Moselle. Stéphanie Di Vincenzo was stabbed several times by her companion in 2021. The day before, he had ripped off her electronic bracelet without it triggering an alarm.

On the civil parties' bench, Stéphanie Di Vincenzo's family is united. For the first time, they will be confronted with the man who killed the 22-year-old young woman. On the night of May 23 to 24, 2021, in Hayange (Moselle), an argument broke out between Liridon Berisa and his partner Stéphanie Di Vincenzo. The young woman flees and runs towards the police station located a few meters from the home, but the station is closed. The accused catches up with her and kills her with several stab wounds.

Tuesday December 10, from the start of the trial in (Moselle), Liridon Berisa admitted the facts. At the time, this murder raised the question of the treatment of domestic violence. The police had already intervened ten times at the couple's home in the previous months. The young woman had filed a complaint, but it had not been transmitted to the public prosecutor's office, and her partner had removed her electronic bracelet the day before the tragedy, but it had not rang. An inspection mission concluded that there had been no professional misconduct, but highlighted the lack of resources and advocated better coordination of services to identify domestic violence within a couple. The accused faces life imprisonment.
