Anta Babacar Ngom was at the helm of the Dakar Court of Appeal last Tuesday, the day after her installation in the National Assembly as a member of the 15th legislature. Les Échos, who attended the hearing, discusses an improbable case concerning the mortgaging of a building without the knowledge of its owner who is none other than the president of the Alternative movement for the next generation of citizens (Arc).
“Based on false documents, in particular a false power of attorney, a false financial statement, etc., a building belonging to Anta Babacar Ngom was mortgaged to Orabank, by Mr. Samb, with the complicity of T. Ndiaye, head agency of Orabank Thiaroye and NP Dieng to obtain a loan of 85 million francs,” details the newspaper cited by Seneweb.
The same source recalls that the case dates back to 2021. “When she learned from a bailiff’s document that there was a change of ownership relating to her R+5 building located in Almadies, on the edge sea, [la plaignante] fell from the clouds.”
Convicted at first instance, the defendants appealed. Reiterating her accusations, the unsuccessful candidate for the Presidential election on March 24 confides “that she never sold her building” and “did not give power of attorney to anyone to take any action on this building.” “Mr. Samb et Cie made people believe that it is a simple, bare building, when it is an R+5 building,” insists Anta Babacar Ngom.
The prosecution requested confirmation of the first sentence despite the denials of the accused. Deliberated on January 21, concludes Les Échos.
