Thefts of catalytic converters or particle filters, as we know, are very regularly targeted by thieves, as was again the case in the Comines bus depot (North), at the end of November 2024. In Douai, however, it is another part of a car that two accomplices set out to stealon the evening of Saturday December 7. They did not hesitate to help themselves under the hood of a parked vehiclebut the police quickly found them.

In Douai, they use the engine of a parked car and transport the stolen battery

It was 8 p.m. when the two men spotted the car from which they were going to steal part of the engine, rue Saint-Jean in Douai. But witnesses raise the alarm: the thieves are well seen discharging the battery of a parked carto take him to a vehicle parked on rue du Maréchal Leclerc. They place their loot there.

When the police arrived on site, the car on rue du Maréchal Leclerc had the stolen battery inside, but the surrounding area was deserted. They set up surveillance. One of the individuals returns to the car first and is arrested. The same fate is reserved for his accomplice, who ends up arriving in his turn.

Aged 38 and 53, they were taken into police custody.
