HANDBALL, ANGOLA SACRED FOR THE 16TH TIME IN FRONT OF SENEGAL

Dakar, Dec 7 (APS) – The Angolan women’s national handball team won, this Saturday, in Kinshasa, its sixteenth title of African champion, beating in the final, by 27 points to 18, that of Senegal which consoles itself with the silver medal as in 1974 and 2018.

The Lionesses are still missing the last step to climb to the top of African women’s handball.

Senegal has still not won the African Nations Women’s Handball Championship.

Angola, favorite of the 28th edition which has been taking place since November 27 in Kinshasa, held its place, winning its sixteenth final out of the seventeen finals it played in this competition. It is also their sixth title in a row, since the 2016 edition, played at home.

Angola has participated in the African Nations Women’s Handball Championship since 1981. It has played in 23 editions of this competition to date and has won 15 of its 16 finals.

The Angolans were eliminated in 1991 in Egypt. They took third place in 1996 in Benin and in 2014 in Algeria.
