Lhe event brought together different players from the telecommunications sector to discuss the role of 5G in transforming the country’s digital landscape.
It also aims to highlight the central place occupied by technologies such as 5G and AI in the digital transformation of the Kingdom, in perfect alignment with the Maroc Digital 2030 national strategy and the 5G launch plan in the country.
During Technology Days, Ericsson welcomed customers, regulators, local operators, industry partners and media, and presented live demonstrations, including immersive sports fan engagement, performance enhancement network through artificial intelligence (AI), and 5G monetization through network slicing and network exposure.
“5G has the potential to transform various sectors in Morocco, including sports, manufacturing, port operations and mining, by enabling real-time data exchange and creating efficiencies. The organization of the Ericsson Technology Days in Morocco was an important opportunity for our partners and stakeholders to meet Ericsson experts, engage in discussions and experience demonstrations which will play a vital role in driving the launch of 5G in Morocco, in line with our #AfricaInMotion vision,” said Majda Lahlou Kassi, vice-president and director of Ericsson West Africa and Morocco.
The Technology Days served as a key platform to explore how 5G can benefit various sectors of Moroccan society. As such, it is expected to significantly improve sports fan engagement by enabling real-time interactions and improving live event streaming capabilities.
This advancement will meet the growing demand for immersive experiences from fans.
During the event, discussions also focused on how communications service providers (CSPs) can benefit from artificial intelligence and cognitive software tools to achieve optimal network performance through automation.
These advances will not only improve the quality of services, but will also contribute to the overall economic development of the country.
The edition of the Ericsson Mobility Report (November 2024) was also presented at the event. This report highlights that mobile subscriptions in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region are expected to reach 830 million by 2030, with 5G expected to account for 60% of these subscriptions, or 500 million subscriptions.
These data reflect the region’s dynamism in its transition to improved connectivity.
At the same time, 2G and 3G subscriptions are expected to decline, and communications service providers (CSPs) will focus on reallocation of spectrum for 4G and 5G. Ericsson continues to collaborate with local partners to facilitate the deployment of 5G technology, advance the digital landscape in Morocco and contribute to its economic development.
