A 17-year-old teenager, who allegedly voluntarily rushed into a police officer who was trying to intercept him at the end of October in Montreal, was finally arrested after having managed to slip through the fingers of the authorities several times in recent weeks.

The young man appeared Thursday in the Youth Chamber on charges of dangerous driving and armed assault.

He remains detained for further legal proceedings.

The acts with which the teenager is accused – who cannot be named since he is a minor – occurred on October 21, while he was at the wheel of his vehicle.

The police then tried to intercept him, because the young man was driving dangerously in the Villeray district.

A police officer allegedly took advantage of the fact that the driver was stopped at the intersection of Saint-Hubert and Jarry streets to approach the suspect vehicle.

The teenager then allegedly stormed off, hitting the police officer in the process. The latter escaped with slight injuries.

In the days following this event, the teenager was seen in several places in the metropolis, but each time the police tried to intercept him, the young suspect managed to escape.

However, on November 4, his vehicle was found parked on the side of a street. It was seized for appraisal purposes.

The teenager was arrested during the day on Wednesday and a search was carried out at his home, where the police were able to “seize certain elements of evidence”.
