Saint-Maurice-sur- – Emotion after the death of physiotherapist David Pegeot, victim of a fall in Hohneck
Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle – Emotion after the death of physiotherapist David Pegeot, victim of a fall in Hohneck

Sunday December 1, 2024, a 41-year-old Vosges mountaineer lost his life in the Hohneck massif after a fall of 200 meters in an icy corridor while he was participating in training with four other mountaineers. This is David Pegeot, physiotherapist based at the Saint-Maurice-sur- health center, general secretary of the Union of Vosges physiotherapists, to whom his colleagues pay the tribute that we reproduce below.

David Pegeot disappeared on 1is December during an outing in the Hohneck massif, in the Vosges. His colleagues pay tribute to him.

It is with immense sadness that we, members of the board of directors of the Syndicat des physiotherapists des Vosges, take up our pens to pay tribute to our general secretary, David Pegeot, who tragically passed away on Sunday 1is December 2024 at the age of 41, in the Hohneck massif, while preparing for a mountaineering expedition in Norway.

Originally from the Montbéliard region, David was a man driven by an unwavering love for nature and the mountains. Graduated in 2006 from the Saint-Étienne massage-physiotherapy training institute, he began his career in Réunion then in Hauteville, in Ain, before settling down in Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle in the Vosges in 2011.

A member of the SKV since 2012, David quickly established himself as a pillar of our organization. Joining the departmental board of directors in 2018, he took on the role of general secretary in 2020, bringing new life to defend and advance our profession. Relentlessly committed, he was also one of the driving forces behind the construction of the CPTS of the Vosges massif, playing a determining role in cooperation between health professionals.

David was also keen to pass on his knowledge and passion to the physiotherapy students he hosted for internships.

Beyond being a professional, David was a man of values and family. Loving and devoted father of Loan, 16 years old, Norah, 14 years old, and Clémentine, 10 years old, he knew how to pass on to his children his taste for effort and the beauty of the world around him. Passionate about mountain sports and an experienced mountaineer, he found in these peaks a source of personal improvement and serenity.

His disappearance, which occurred during an ascent in the Hohneck massif, where he was preparing an expedition to Norway, leaves us in immense pain. But she cannot forget his legacy, both personal and professional: a man of rare generosity, devoted to others, to his family, and to his profession.

To his partner Hélène, his children, his parents, his brothers and all his loved ones, we send our most sincere thoughts and our support in this ordeal.

David, your mark on our profession, on our union and in our lives will never fade. You will remain a model of commitment and passion.

Rest in peace, dear friend and colleague.

The board of directors of the Union of Physiotherapists of Vosges.
