After the censorship of the Barnier government: “Let us not leave France without a government that meets the expectations expressed at the ballot box”

The political crisis is deep. The use of article 49.3 by Prime Minister Michel Barnier to pass his budget triggered a motion of censure and led to the fall of his government. A first since 1962. Since then, a government from the camp defeated in the legislative elections has never been appointed. The fall of the government was written in advance.

For months, we could discuss everyone's responsibilities, without finding a way out of this crisis. This unprecedented situation under the Ve Republic is the choice of a single man, that of the President of the Republic, to dissolve the National Assembly at the end of the European elections, then to appoint fifty days later a Prime Minister from the ranks of LR to maintain his political course, in defiance of the message of the polls.

We wish, with others, to break the deadlock and respond to the concerns of our fellow citizens, our businesses, our communities, as well as those involved in community life.

We are perfectly aware that no coalition holds an absolute majority in the National Assembly, which forces each group and each political force to work together on compromises to move forward. The only question posed today is the direction in which we must move forward.

This government, without authentic legitimacy, has chosen to turn towards the extreme right. However, several of its ministers were elected in the second round of the last elections thanks to the Republican front and the withdrawal of the left.

This is one of the reasons for our censorship, but it is also and above all because of the bad choices made in its budgets.

Loss of income for retirees, citizens, municipalities, departments, regions, loss of subsidies for associations, loss of funds for our hospitals, education, lack of resources for justice, security, ecological transition …

How can we pass up such a budget which will provoke anger among all those who see their purchasing power once again affected? How can we accept a budget that will lead our country into a dramatic recession when on both sides of Europe, in the United States and in China, the time has come for massive investments by States to protect and boost the economy and consumption? , growth? Nobody talks about the debt in the United States, even though it is much higher than in .

This is why the French Communist Party, its parliamentarians, are calling for a move away from these logics and to quickly build a republican, social pact, respecting the choices expressed by citizens and providing immediate responses to their demands.

During the legislative elections, many deputies were elected thanks to the support of the Republican front. MPs from the NFP coalition came out on top. In their diversity, our fellow citizens have expressed high demands to protect their purchasing power, guarantee public service, and above all for a change in policy!

Let's work for this change and not leave France without a government that meets the expectations expressed at the ballot box.

We are not asking for the implementation of our entire program. We call for the construction of a social pact and formulate 6 proposals which seem essential to us: repeal of the pension reform, indexation of salaries and pensions to inflation, reduction in the cost of energy, support for public services, communities, industry and active diplomacy in favor of peace. Let's create the conditions for a government capable of building majorities around social justice and republican values.

It is time for the President of the Republic to look to the left of the Hemicycle and respect the Parliament, the French.

We will always be here to engage in these discussions and find a path to respond to our country's emergencies, with a primary focus on defending the interests of the people.
