During the night from Monday to Tuesday, a young man of 20, just released from prison, was arrested in Morangis (Essonne) after refusing to comply which triggered a chase. The suspect, driving a stolen car, was in possession of a loaded handgun. A search of his home then revealed the presence of a loaded submachine gun and two bottles containing gasoline.
A night chase
Around 3 a.m., agents from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) attempted to check a Peugeot 3008 on avenue de la Croix-Boisselière. As reported by Actu17, the driver refused to stop and fled, accompanied by several passengers. A chase began, during which the fugitive abandoned his vehicle near the Morangis municipal stadium before fleeing on foot with his accomplices.
As he fled, the driver threw away a 9mm caliber handgun. The police managed to arrest him and recover the weapon. The other occupants of the car managed to escape.
A stolen car and disturbing discoveries
Initial checks revealed that the Peugeot 3008 had been reported stolen since November 25, in Seine-Saint-Denis, by a rental company. Inside the vehicle, the police discovered balaclavas, suggesting possible preparation for a criminal act.
A search carried out at the suspect's home in Bondy (Seine-Saint-Denis) led to the discovery of a loaded .45 caliber M3 submachine gun, as well as two bottles of gasoline, the potential use of which remains to be determined.
A recent release from prison
The young man left the prison environment on November 28. Placed in police custody, he was to be brought before the Évry court at the end of the day this Tuesday.
The investigation continues to find the fleeing accomplices and clarify the circumstances surrounding these facts.
