Winter illness is starting to gain ground: the seasonal flu epidemic has started in mainland France where the Paris region is the first to be affected. And, among babies, that of bronchiolitis continues to spread, the public health agency summarized this Wednesday.
Last week, ending December 2, Île-de-France entered a flu epidemic, according to a weekly report from Public Health France.
Bronchiolitis on the rise
Five other regions were about to follow, being in the so-called pre-epidemic phase: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Brittany, Grand Est, Hauts-de-France and Normandy.
The flu epidemic is taking hold at a time when vaccination remains sluggish compared to previous years.
This vaccination campaign also concerns Covid, which is currently at the bottom of the wave, according to agency data.
The third epidemic to be monitored by the agency, bronchiolitis, which mainly affects babies, is booming, since the metropolis is now almost entirely affected apart from Corsica.
Overseas, the bronchiolitis epidemic is also hitting Guyana, Guadeloupe and Martinique.
