A simple, outspoken man

Joseph Horion was born on 1is March 1937 in Vautorte in a small farm near the forest where he lived his childhood with four sisters and two brothers. A life of kid except that something was on his mind.

Every year during the fair, we had to transport wood from the forest to the fair to make the stands. There were miles to go. Each time, my father had to face this task, he who only had eleven hectares and wobbly mares, while there were what we called the big farmers, who lived nearby and who were much better equipped. !

The big farmers

And so by following his father, the horses and the loading of wood, an idea came to him. “It is not normal for the priest to only listen to big farmers. Well, I’ll be a priest one day, so that all that changes.” Joseph Horion therefore entered the seminary and completed the appropriate training.
