Contract fulfilled for Switzerland! In Basel, Knut Ove Joa’s players qualified for the main round of the Euro. The Swiss won 26-22 against Croatia this Tuesday evening.
Never trailing, they did however experience some scares. After counting an advantage of ten goals (19-9), Switzerland only led 17-15 in the 40th. But with the support of the 3,826 spectators at the Halle St. Jacques, they found a second wind to complete the affair. Tabea Schmid and Era Baumann, who both scored six times, were decisive.
The Swiss will now head to Vienna with a first meeting against Germany on Thursday. Their other opponents will be Slovenia on Saturday, the Netherlands on Monday and Norway, the reigning Olympic Champion, next Wednesday.
