Dakar, Dec 3 (APS) – Senegal will play against Cameroon in the quarter-finals of the African Women’s Handball Championship, Wednesday at 12:00 GMT, in Kinshasa.
The Lionesses of Senegal have obtained four victories and one defeat in five matches. They were beaten by Congo, 17 points to 25, in their last match of the group stage.
Senegal is third in Group A, with eight points, behind Egypt and Congo. The Lionesses beat Kenya (39 points to 9), Cape Verde (37 points to 22), Egypt (21 points to 16) and Algeria (23 points to 16).
Twelve teams divided into two groups took part in the 26e edition of the African Women’s Handball Championship.
Senegal was in Pool A with Congo, Egypt, Algeria, Cape Verde and Kenya. Pool B consisted of Angola, the reigning African champions, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tunisia, Guinea, Cameroon and Uganda.
Senegal hosted the 25e edition of this competition in November 2022. He took fourth place, which allowed him to participate in the Women’s Handball World Championship in 2023, in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
For the first time, Senegal reached the main round of the competition.
