This is undoubtedly one of the most followed strike movements in recent years by teachers.
They respond to the call from Sniupp-FSU, the first primary and nursery teaching union, in a broader day of mobilization of public sector agents.
“In all departments, thousands of schools will be closed on Thursday and staff will everywhere demonstrate their anger at this government“, we read in the press release from Snuipp-FSU, the largest primary school teaching union.
Nationally, 65% of teachers could be on strike.
Teachers denounce the civil service reform announced by the government. Unions speak out against budgetary restrictions and of job cuts announced by the Minister of the Civil Service, Guillaume Kasbarian.
“For too many years now, teachers have felt despised by a power that does not take the measure of the field“, indicates the FSU-SNUipp, deploring “degraded working conditions, a salary at half mast and purchasing power which is only decreasing“.
In Île-de-France, several assembly points are planned in all departments this Thursday. The big Parisian demonstration will leave from rue de Bercy at 2 p.m. The procession will reach Place d'Italie in the 13th arrondissement.
